BB Bear

The tiny Shepherd pup who touched everyone’s hearts.

BB Bear’s courageous fight to survive.

BB Bear was brought into Phoenix Dog/Cat/Bird Hospital on Oct. 6, 2017, with a fractured skull after he was found near a dumpster around 7th Ave. and Southern in Phoenix. Dr. Hugh Giffords and his team determined his injuries likely resulted from abuse.

The white German Shepherd puppy was nursed to health before he was made available for adoption. “Because BB Bear drew far-reaching attention from media outlets and on social media, there was no shortage of families who wanted to adopt him”, said Lisa Klimczak, executive director of the Arizona Animal Rescue Mission.

More than 200 Arizona families completed applications to adopt BB Bear and we are happy to announce that on December 2017, BB Bear found his forever home. He was adopted by a loving family that will cherish him as much as all of us do.

But the story doesn’t end there! BB Bear was then selected as a 2018 Hero Award Winner from the Arizona Pet Project. When BB Bear received his award, he celebrated with his new family and the veterinarians who nursed him back to health - Dr. Hugh Giffords, DVM, and Dr. Lara Sosnow, DVM.
